Outport Fishing Stage

Outport Fishing Stage
The base of the construction is a beautiful weather-carved piece of hardwood which sat with me for a long time before I realized it could suggest a rocky shore. It became the landscape of a particular human resilience, that of the outport fishermen of Newfoundland. It is a stage-set full of stories—it looks as though it could be at the edge of a ghost town, but is still very much in use, salt cod is drying on the flakes.
