Chameleon dell’ Arte

This Chameleon is a contradiction. His nature keeps him hidden. His drive is to entertain. Performers are often introverts. Here, he is partly hidden, wearing masks in the hopes of finding an audience. He is currently wearing Groucho Glasses. Groucho Marx had his roots in Commedia dell Arte, partly inspired by the character of Pantalone.

“Well, Art is Art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water. And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now you tell me what you know.” -Groucho in Animal Crackers

Bottom image is of the early development of the piece in 2019, standing on the bridge of the trawler, Mary Mary.
